Resources
I think it is so important to give credit where credit is due. I am in a state of continual learning and as a teacher, I know how important it is for learners to have access to great resources. These are some of the resources that I have used and hopefully they will be of value to you, too.

Backyard Harvest by Jo Whittingham
Crockett's Victory Garden by James Crockett
- An information (and for me, inspiring) text. Like my other favorites, broken down month by month, this book gives a fun mixture of information about planting, harvesting, preserving, and using the delicious things that gardeners grow. A delightful read and definitely a keeper.
Crockett's Victory Garden by James Crockett
- Probably one of my favorite gardening books of all time. It's very informative and is broken down into monthly chapters. This book really encouraged me to step out of my comfort zone and try to have a year 'round garden
- If you are a North Carolina gardener then I would consider this the first place for you to look for information. They have a lot of information, which can be overwhelming. I would consider contacting your local extension agent for agriculture in your area. Almost every county has one and they put on many programs and can offer lots of advice to new gardeners.

Afristar Companion Planting Pictorial Guide:
- This is very comprehensive and written in a way that is easy to read. If you get annoyed with the idea of having to look at a new page just to read the whole article, click on the print view. It will give you the whole list without having to bounce around as much.

100 Days of Real Food by Lisa Leake
- I visit this blog at least once a week for resources and tips on incorporating real food into my life. You might say that as a culinary instructor that everything I do should be real food and for the most part it is. But this blog inspires me to really inspect the food I buy and the values that I teach my students regarding food.
